Maintaining the natural look of your wig or topper starts with the correct care. This guide covers washing, conditioning and styling, working in harmony with products which have been specifically designed for human and synthetic hair wigs and toppers. Whether you want to deep condition, smooth or volumise - following these instructions will help to keep your wig/topper looking fabulous!
HUMAN HAIR CARE
TIPS
For the best care of your human hair wig or topper we recommend using salon quality products that are sulphate free.
Cheap hair care products should not be used as the structure of the fibre can be permanently damaged, meaning longevity cannot be guaranteed.
If you wear your wig or topper daily we recommend washing once per week (every 6-8 wears).
Never comb or brush your wig or topper when it is wet. The knotting at the base could be loosened or undone when the hair is soaked with water. It is better to remove tangles in the hair by carefully combing before washing or after the hair has air dried.
Regular intensive/deep conditioning treatments will inject the hair with the needed moisture and nourishment to prevent drying and tangling.
Use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Use at a temperature no higher than 175° C (350° F) to help maintain the integrity of the hair.
CHECK WASH
We recommend performing a check wash on a human hair wig or topper within 14 days of receipt. This will help you uncover any processing inconsistencies that indicate poor quality (although this is very rare).
Before washing your human hair wig/topper, gently remove any tangles using a detangling brush or paddle brush.
Wet the hair completely using cool running water. Comb through the hair with your fingers several times.
If no signs of tangling/matting occur, continue to cleanse and condition while checking for excessive tangling as you go.
If you do notice excessive tangling/matting, it may be a sign of inversion. Contact us immediately. (Please note that tangling/matting that occurs after months of wear is due to improper care)

DRY & STYLE
Human hair must be dried and styled after washing. Air-drying will leave the hair ‘un-polished’ and can trap water in the hair causing frizzing.
Wrap the wig/topper in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water.
Gently remove any tangles using your detangling brush or paddle brush.
Allow the cap to dry completely on a plastic or wire wig stand before putting it on a canvas wig head. (Putting a wet or damp wig cap on a canvas wig head can cause stretching and damage to delicate lace materials)
Dampen the hair again and apply a small amount of blow dry treatment; distribute evenly throughout the hair, keeping away from base of the wig/topper.
Starting at the nape of the wig or back section of the topper, work in 2" sections using a round boar-bristle brush and blow dry each section completely.
Use medium-high heat on full power to blow dry the hair. Use the "cool shot" button to seal the hair.
DRY & STYLE TIPS
Blow dry and heat protecting protective products are specifically formulated to be a foundation product for all human hair blow drying. All other styling products can be used following these.
Beach/sea salt sprays can be used on dry hair to add texture and revitalise natural curls.
Use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Use no higher than 175° C (350° F) to help maintain the integrity of the hair.
Use a holding spray to fix your finished style.
Recommended Products (which are accessible in New Zealand):-
Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Spray
Wigs and topper made of synthetic hair do not require the intensive care that human hair does, however, they do require regular cleansing, conditioning and combing to prevent tangling and frizzing of the fibres.
TIPS
For the best care of your synthetic hair we recommend using hair products specially formulated for use on hair additions, wigs and extensions.
Standard hair care products should not be used as the structure of the fibre can be permanently damaged when these products are used meaning longevity cannot be guaranteed.
If you wear your wig/topper daily we recommend washing your once per week (every 6-8 wears).
Air -drying your wig/topper will give the best results.
Avoid friction and heat from hair dryers, straighteners and curling irons. Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc.) as excessive heat can damage the synthetic fibre.

HEAT RESISTANT SYNTHETIC HAIR CARE
Air drying your wig/topper will give the best results.
Heat resistant synthetic fibres can tangle and frizz with wear. It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fibre. Use your straightening irons or a hot comb to smooth any frizz before washing.
We recommend using a detangling spray with a wide tooth comb daily to detangle your heat resistant synthetic hair. This is especially important with the mid-length to long length hair styles.
To add texture and definition, use a small amount of fibre crème and apply using your fingertips.

Heat resistant hair can withstand heat up to 175° C (350° F), however, manufacturers recommend working at 130°-135° C (270°-280° F).
It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat.
PROTECT
Heat your curling or straightening irons to 130°-135° C (270°-280° F)
Using your wide tooth comb, gently comb the hair free of tangles.
Starting at the back/nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections of hair (if curling the hair: smaller sections=tighter curls, larger sections=looser curls).
Spray heat protection spray on the section to protect the fibre (1-2 pumps per section).
CURL
Gather the hair into the curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpiece, staying 1-2 inches away
Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip or grip.
Allow the curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove the clip and let curl hang naturally.
STRAIGHTENING
Slowly smooth the straightening irons down through the ends; keep the hair smooth by following behind the straightening irons with a wide tooth comb.
