Maintaining the natural look of your hair addition starts with the correct care. This guide covers washing, conditioning and styling, working in harmony with products which have been specifically designed for human and synthetic hair additions. Whether you want to deep condition, smooth or volumise, following these instructions will help to keep your hair addition looking fabulous!

HUMAN HAIR CARE

TIPS

  • For the best care of your human hair addition we recommend using products than have been specially formulated for use on hair additions, wigs and extensions.

  • Standard hair care products should not be used as the structure of the fibre can be permanently damaged when these products are used meaning longevity cannot be guaranteed.

  • If you wear your hair addition/wig daily we recommend washing yours once per week (every 6-8 wears).

  • Never comb or brush your hair addition/wig when it’s wet. The knotting at the base could be undone when the hair is soaked with water. It is better to remove tangles in the hair by carefully combing before washing.

  • Regular intensive/deep conditioning treatments will inject the hair with the needed moisture and nourishment to prevent drying and tangling.

  • Use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Use at a temperature no higher than 175° C (350° F) to help maintain the integrity of the hair.

CHECK WASH

We recommend performing a check wash on a human hair addition/wig within 14 days of receipt. This will help you uncover any processing inconsistencies that indicate poor quality (although this is very rare).

  • Before washing your human hair addition/wig, gently remove any tangles using a detangling brush or paddle brush.

  • Wet the hair completely using cool running water. Comb through the hair with your fingers several times.

  • If no signs of tangling/matting occur, continue to cleanse and condition while checking for excessive tangling as you go.

  • If you do notice excessive tangling/matting, it may be a sign of inversion. Contact our Customer Help Desk immediately. (Please note that tangling/matting that occurs after months of wear is due to improper care)

WASH & CONDITION

Items you will need:-

  • Shampoo for human hair.

  • Detangling brush or paddle brush.

  • Conditioner for human hair.

  • Intensive/deep conditioning treatment.

  • Canvas wig head.

WASH & CONDITION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Before washing your human hair addition/wig, gently remove any tangles using your detangling brush or paddle brush.

  • Gently lather the hair with a small amount of shampoo, making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub the hair as this may cause tangling.

  • Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.

  • Apply conditioner, avoiding the base of the hair addition/wig (applying conditioner to the base/cap may weaken the knots)

  • Using your fingers or a wide tooth comb, work the conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends for 3-5 minutes.

  • Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.

  • Dry and style (see instructions).

INTENSIVE/DEEP CONDITIONING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Wash your hair addition/wig as normal (see the Wash & Condition) instructions).

  • Apply approximately 2-3 tablespoons of conditioning treatment (use more or less depending on the length of the hair) from the mid-lengths to the ends, avoiding the base of hair addition/wig. Applying conditioner to the base/cap may weaken the knots.

  • Using your fingers or a wide tooth comb, work the conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends for 3-5 minutes.

  • Cover the hair with a plastic wig cap or cling film and apply low heat using a blow dryer.

  • Allow the conditioner to process for 20-30 minutes (or as per the packaging instructions).

  • Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.

  • Apply a small amount of Argan oil serum/spray on the hair when it is damp prior to drying and styling.

DRY & STYLE

  • Human hair must be dried and styled after washing. Air-drying will leave the hair ‘un-polished’ and can trap water in the hair causing frizzing.

  • Wrap the hair addition/wig in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water.

  • Gently remove any tangles using your detangling brush or paddle brush.

  • Allow the cap to dry completely before applying to a canvas wig head.

  • Dampen the hair again and apply a small amount of blow dry treatment; distribute evenly throughout the hair, keeping away from base of the hair addition/wig.

  • Starting at back/nape of the hair addition/wig, work in 2" sections using a round boar-bristle brush and blow dry each section completely.

  • Use medium-high heat on full power to blow dry the hair. Use the "cool shot" button to seal the hair.

DRY & STYLE TIPS

  • Blow dry and heat protecting protective products are specifically formulated to be a foundation product for all human hair blow drying. All other styling products can be used following these.

  • Beach/sea salt sprays can be used on dry hair to add texture and revitalize natural curls.

  • Use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Use no higher than 175° C (350° F) to help maintain the integrity of the hair.

  • Use a holding spray to fix your finished style.

SYNTHETIC HAIR CARE

Hair additions made of synthetic hair do not require the intensive care that human hair does, however, they do require regular cleansing, conditioning and combing to prevent tangling and frizzing of the fibres.

TIPS

  • For the best care of your synthetic hair we recommend using hair products specially formulated for use on hair additions, wigs and extensions.

  • Standard hair care products should not be used as the structure of the fibre can be permanently damaged when these products are used meaning longevity cannot be guaranteed.

  • If you wear your hair addition/wig daily we recommend washing your once per week (every 6-8 wears).

  • Air drying your hair addition/wig will give the best results.

  • Avoid friction and heat from hair dryers, straighteners and curling irons. Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc.) as excessive heat can damage the synthetic fibre.

  • Wrap the hair addition/wig in a towel and gently pat dry.

  •  We recommend using your fingertips or brush/comb for your desired style.

  •  To add texture and definition, use a small amount of fibre crème and apply using fingertips.

  •  Do NOT use heat to style synthetic fibre (curling irons, straightening irons or hair dryers).

HEAT RESISTANT SYNTHETIC HAIR CARE

  • Heat resistant synthetic fibres can tangle and frizz with wear. It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fibre. Use your straightening irons to smooth any frizz before washing.

  • We recommend using a detangling spray with a wide tooth bomb daily to detangle your heat resistant synthetic hair. This is especially important with the mid-length to long length hair styles.

  • To add texture and definition, use a small amount of fibre crème and apply using your fingertips.

STRAIGHTENING

  •  Slowly smooth the straightening irons down through the ends; keep the hair smooth by following behind the straightening irons with a wide tooth comb.
