Human Hair

Wigs, toppers and extension made with human hair are ideal for those who would like to achieve the most natural look possible due to the way the hair falls and the natural shine.

Human hair can be styled, straightened and curled. The hair can be cut and dyed to achieve your desired result (we recommend this is carried out by a professional hair stylist).

It is important that human hair is properly cared for to prevent drying and frizzing of the hair. As the hair is no longer benefitting from the natural oils from a ‘live’ head, it is prone to drying out and requires regular moisturising and intensive treatments. We recommend care and styling products which have been specifically designed and formulated for human hair wigs/toppers/extensions. These products will help to maintain the luxurious, silky feel of the hair and won’t cause damage.

Our human hair wigs and toppers are available in several different hair types:-

Remy Human Hair

Remy hair is human hair that has been collected from either a single donor or various donors. In most cases the hair is Asian in origin, unless otherwise stated. The hair has undergone some processing. The hair cuticles have been aligned, ensuring that they are all facing in the same direction, as they would if they had grown naturally from the scalp. This results in soft, silky and tangle free hair.

Non-Remy Human Hair

Non-Remy human hair (sometimes called 100% human hair) is hair that has been collected from various donors and has undergone processing.

 Both the roots and the tips of the hair are mixed up meaning the hair cuticles are not all running in the same direction. In order to prevent friction and tangling the hair is processed to remove part of the cuticle. This makes the hair more prone to dryness and regular deep conditioning treatments are required.

Being lower in cost than remy hair it can be a preferred option for some. 

Virgin Human Hair

Virgin hair is the best and highest quality hair on the market. It has not been chemically treated or altered by dyes, perms, bleaches, or harsh washes meaning the hair is sold in its original colour and texture. It is collected from a single donor. The hair cuticles are aligned and facing in the same direction as how they have grown naturally from the scalp. This results in top quality soft, silky and tangle free hair. The hair does undergo some gentle cleaning prior to being used to make wigs and toppers but this does not affect the high quality of the hair.

When it comes to choosing the best hair for wigs and toppers, understanding the distinct characteristics of different hair origins is key. Each hair type varies in texture, thickness, and resilience — and these differences influence how the hair looks, feels, and styles over time.

When human hair is identified as being of a particular country of origin, it can be that the hair is Asian in origin but the quality and processing of the hair results in a quality very similar to hair from another country. For example, hair that is Chinese in origin can have a quality that is like Mongolian hair and the wig manufacturer may identify it as Mongolian. 

When the true origin of the hair is known this will be stated in the product information.

Synthetic & High Heat Synthetic

Wigs and toppers made with synthetic and high heat synthetic hair are more realistic looking than they have ever been! Advancements in technology, colour blends and styles means that a realistic look can be achieved and it has become harder to distinguish between synthetic hair and human hair. Our team has carefully selected pieces that give the most realistic look.

Synthetic wigs and toppers retain their original look and shape after washing. Synthetic fibres cannot tolerate high heat so cannot be styled with high heat tools.

High heat synthetic wigs and topper can be styled, curled and straightened, unlike regular synthetic hair. It can withstand heat up to 175°c (350° F), however, we recommend working at 130°c-135°c (270°-280° F).

High heat synthetic hair tends not to have the same level of shine as regular synthetic hair due to the processing it has gone through to give it its heat resistance.

Synthetic hair types can be cut to achieve your desired result (we recommend this is carried out by a professional hair stylist). It cannot be dyed.

To maintain the fibres we recommend using care and styling products which have been specifically formulated for synthetic hair. 

High heat synthetic fibre requires more maintenance compared to regular synthetic to keep the fibres detangled and smooth. Due to the structure of the fibre, friction frizz can occur on the ends sooner than would occur with regular synthetic fibre.
